At Boomerang Cares, our mission goes far beyond holiday cheer — we’re here to strengthen the quality of life for children and families across Collin County.

Every day, we meet families who work hard, care deeply, and give their best — but still find themselves just outside the lines of traditional assistance programs. They make too much to qualify for help, yet not enough to comfortably cover the extra things that make life feel normal:

a birthday gift for a friend, new cleats for basketball, or toys under the tree during the holidays.

That’s where Boomerang Cares steps in — and where you come in, too.

The Boomerang Blessings Toy Drive

This year’s Boomerang Blessings Toy Drive is one more way we’re helping local families fill that gap.

We’re collecting new, unwrapped toys for children and parents who could use a little extra support this season — families who might not qualify for other programs but still need a hand to make the holidays special.

All collected toys go directly to our Wonder & Wishes Toy Event, where families are invited to enjoy photos with Santa, cookies, cocoa, and the joy of choosing toys together.

The event is first come, first serve, and each family may select two toys per child — a simple gesture that carries lasting impact.

What to Give

We’re especially in need of gifts for boys and girls ages 10–17, as well as meaningful items for parents.

Some great ideas include:

• Legos & Building Sets

• Art & Craft Kits

• Puzzles & Games

• Sports Balls & Equipment

• Self-Care Gifts or Cozy Items

• Small Gift Cards ($20–$50 range)

These aren’t just toys — they’re the little things that help kids feel included, confident, and cared for.

 What an incredible day! Yesterday’s Backswing Golf Tournament was everything we hoped it would be—sunshine, laughter, a few friendly competitive swings, and a whole lot of heart. It was a beautiful reminder of what happens when kindness, community, and purpose come together.

Thanks to all of you—our golfers, sponsors, donors, and volunteers—we raised $17,500 to help support students and families across McKinney and other Collin County ISDs. These funds will go toward scholarships, equipment and snacks for youth rec teams, and opportunities for students to attend trade schools, athletic camps, and other enrichment programs.

We were truly moved by Serenity High graduate, Josh Keith, who shared his story with courage and grace, and by Vice Principal, Allie Long, who continues to be a steady voice of hope and compassion for students in our community. Mr. Harvey Oaxaca, Vice President of the McKinney ISD Board, gave us a warm welcome that grounded the day in purpose—reminding us that every swing, every laugh, and every dollar raised was for something much bigger than golf.
